OPENING TIME: from 9.30 am to 12.30 am Purchase tickets in the museum or in cathedral. Amount ticket(museum+audioguide including museum and the eight churches): € 7.00. Reductions and exemptions: for 10 persons min. groups is planned a reduced price of € 5.00(only the museum). Kids under 12, guides and courier services are exempted by payment.



The Opera del Duomo and of the Palatial Churches (condensed in latin “Opa”) is a Fabbriceria similar to those of the most important Italian cities as Milan, Pisa, Florence, Siena and Venice. The origin date back to Bishop Guglielmo degli Ubertini, which, starting to edify the new Cathedral of Arezzo in 1278, he wanted that a group of men dof the “società civile” presided over the works and granted in the course of time the finishing and the mantaining. In 1785 the ’Opera del Duomo was unified to the Operas of the other cities: the ’Opera of S. Maria della Pieve, the ’Opera of S. Francesco, the ’Opera della Cappella del Giuncheto in S. Polo and the ’Opera di S. Fabiano, establishing the ’Opera delle Chiese Comunitative. In 1883 was aggregate the ’Opera di S. Maria delle Grazie and in 1935, with the unification of the ’Opera della Chiesa della SS. Annunziata, born the ’Opera of the Palatial Churches and the Cathedrals of Arezzo, ruled by lateranenses pacts of 1929. In 1956, in the moood of the economic hard difficuties after the war, the ’Opera and the Municipality of Arezzo give th the Stat the compound of San Francesco, thata contained the famous series of frescos of Piero della Francesca. Confirmed in the structure and in the duties from the legislation following the new agree of 1984 and furnished of new statute and ministerial acknowledgement in 1989, in 2006, converting in Onlus, was approved a new and newest statute designed on the greatest "fabbricerie" and the denomination became “Opera del Duomo e delle Chiese Monumentali di Arezzo”.
