Open: Nov-Feb 8.15-16.30, Mar 8.15-17.30/18.30, Apr-May/Sep-Oct 8.15-18.30, Jun-Aug 8.15-19.30. Closed on 1st and last Mondays. Description: Installed on the second floor, which was re-decorated in 1825 by Poccianti and others, the collection displays a vast array of 18C to 20C art, thanks to donations, acquisitions and important bequests. Although they are still being re-arranged, you can admire Italian and French neo-classical works, romantic works by Hayez and other artists, naturalistic works by Fontanesi, Morelli, Palizzi, De Nittis etc; famous foreign names include Pissarro, Lenbach and Bocklin. The finest and most interesting section is dedicated to "Macchiaioli" (Fattori, Lega, Signorini, Boldini, Zandomeneghi, etc.) and those of post-Macchiaioli. Sculptures by Canova and Gemito are also present.
