BRUNELLESCHI'S DOME AND GIOTTO'S TOWER

Hotels BRUNELLESCHI'S DOME AND GIOTTO'S TOWER
Location: FLORENCE
Piazza del Duomo
Open: respectively 9.30-12.00 and 14.30-17.00 (closed on Sundays) and 9-19.30 (winter 17.30).
Description: The ascent of the 463 and 414 steps are tiring but rewarded by the unforgettable panorama of the city and its surroundings. The first ascent enables you to appreciate Brunelleschi's masterful system of construction. The tower, 84m high, was designed by Giotto and continued by Andrea Pisano (1334); it was completed by F. Talenti in 1359. The low reliefs by A.Pisano and L.della Robbia are copies. The originals have been moved to the Cathedral Works Museum (see) to protect them from the atmospheric elements.
