Open: 8.15-18.50; Sundays and public holidays 8.15-18.50. Closed on Mondays. Entrance fee also includes admission to Galleria Palatina and Silver Museum. Description: Built to the plans of Brunelleschi in the mid 15C on order of the Pitti Family; it was completed and enlarged during the following centuries. This grand palace, which was the home of the Medici, the Asburgo-Lorena and the Savoia whilst Florence was capital (1865-71), is presently being completely reconstructed. The courtyard by Ammannati (1570) is a masterpiece. The monumental apartments house luxurious furnishings, a splendid series of tapestries displaying Florentine and French (Gobelins) workmanship, potraits, paintings, frescoes and stucco work.
