SAN LORENZO AND OLD SACRISTY

Hotels SAN LORENZO AND OLD SACRISTY
Location: FLORENCE
Piazza S. Lorenzo
Description: A masterpiece by Brunelleschi, executed by A. Manetti in 1460. The facade is unfinished, the interior is a perfect example of sobriety of style. Interior balcony by Michelangelo; two bronze pulpits by Donatello and great works by Rosso Fiorentino, Desiderio da Settignano, Bronzino, Filippo Lippi ("Annunciazione") and others. The decoration of the adjoining Sacristy (1420-43) was the joint work of two great artists, Brunelleschi and Donatello. The stucco medallions, freizes, reliefs, bronze panels and a terra-cotta bust of S. Lorenzo were also works of Donatello. The splendid "Sarcophagus of Giovanni and Piero de' Medici" was created by Verrocchio (1472).
