Arezzo and the French Domination

The much sacrified discontented and poor population of this land was brought to a head in 1799, with the arrival of Napoleon's French army, with the insurrection "sanfedista" and anti-French feeling which began with the the cry of "Viva Maria" had its centre in Arezzo.
The French were thrown out of the city but re-entered, suppressing the revolt, in October 1800. Of these brief years there remains no trace of the cooking.
