Situated in the center of the Altopiano delle Rocche, on the plateau that divides Monte Sirente from Monte Velino, Rocca di Mezzo is a summer and winter tourist center (the wonderful Piani di Pezza are famous, because they are natural tracks for cross-country skiing). This town of old houses is still encircled by medieval walls and lies a short way from Rocca di Cambio.
Recently transformed into a lively tourist centre, the town is a base for climbs up the imposing ring of mountains covered with beech and pine woods that surround the town. A small museum in the sacristy of the parish church of Santa Maria della Neve contains local examples of late medieval and Renaissance sacred art. Of interest are the sacred furnishings preserved in the Museum of the Cardinal Agnifili, the "Tre Archi", situated in the historical center, and the door of the Morge.
