The Parco Nazionale dell'Appennino Lucano Val d'Agri-Lagonegrese covers a stretch of land along the Apennines of Lucania which runs from the south of Potenza up to the Pollino Park. As far as vegetation and flora are concerned, the band covering lower altitudes contains the evergreen oak tree and thermophilic brushwood with their downy oak, hornbeam, ash, and manna ash trees.
The band at a higher altitude is diffused with Turkey oaks and beech wood trees mixed with holly, Lobelio maples and white firs. Also of note is the Riserva Abetina di Laurenzana nature reserve.
Fauna in the damper areas is of an aquatic, migratory nature, where one may find the spectacled salamander and in the Agri and Noce rivers, the otter. Further into the hillside, both pre-mountainous and mountainous, alongside the more common species there are different birds of prey, owls, woodpeckers, two species of dormouse, wolves and wild cats.
At Parco Nazionale dell'Appennino Lucano Val d'Agri-Lagonegrese, there is tourist accommodation available in hotels, farm holiday, farmhouse, residence self-catering accommodation, mountain chalets, b&b, rooms for rent, holiday homes, camp sites and tourist villages.
