The lake of Saint Giuliano is a Protected Oasis of Fauna from 1976 and it is near to the institution of a Natural Regional Reserve. From 1989 the WWF Italy occupied the teaching management and horticulture, promoting every useful initiative finalising in a major safeguard and correct evaluation. The size of the area is about 1000 hectare and is composed of three principal environments: the river Badano, the lake and the ravine.
During the spring and autumn the Oasis is an important zone of passage and rest for migrating birds, whereas in the winter it represents one of the few areas of wintering places for cormoran and numerous other species. In the summer it gives hospitality to nesting birds. It is not easy however to observe the fauna if one does not know the area: for this reason the WWF offers a service of guided visits.
