Having now returned to its original state, after centuries of neglect, the Eremo del Duca offers a perfect symbiosis between nature and culture. Historically, in fact, the site was host to a 12th century fortress until the 17th century when the Frati Minimi monks, coming from the Sanctuary of Paola, were to take up residence there.
