Castelnuovo Rangone is to be found in the higher plains around Modena, on the
boundary between the plains and the first high reliefs of the northern pre-
Apennines. The name of Castelnuovo Rangone derives from the fact that, as from
1391, it became one of the feuds of the noble Rangoni family. The discovery of
Bronze Age remains towards the end of the 1800’s are of particular historical
interest.

bronze statue which can be seen in the town’s main square.
Its territory also includes the outlying ward of Montale (separated from the
main town by the Torrente Tiepido river).
