Having always been a commercial crossroads, the Venezia Julia area (the name of which is reminiscent of the union between the Venetian and Gens Iulia populations) is ideally placed as a meeting point for three cultures: Italian, Slav and Austrian. The most interesting itineraries leave from Trieste and Gorizia. Leaving from Trieste and venturing beyond the Italian borders, it is possible to admire the Istrian peninsula. From Gorizia, passing over the Italian frontier with Slovenia, the land descends towards the Adriatic until reaching the “golden island” of Grado.
