The origins of Fontanafredda go back to the roman age attested from the discovery of interments of imperial roman age. To see: the Parochial Church to Vignovo, the Church della nave with the works of the Cesarini, the Church in honor of Saint George and the Chiesetta of the Vergine Beata Vergine to Romano.

The village of Vigonovo is in the Municipality of Fontanafredda, about 7 Km from Pordenone. Vigonovo is certainly the most important historical centre within the whole Municipality; it has its own parish church of Santa Maria, established in 1186 and destroyed following the Turkish invasion together with the whole town and reconstructed in the XVIth century. The old parish church was refurbished again in the XIXth century in the neo-classical style. It houses pictures by A. Vicentino (1596), S. Fracchia (XVII sec.) and G. De Lorenzi (XIX sec.).
