We are at Zannone, an integral part of the Circeo National Park; it is patrolled by state foresters. The lighthouse conjures up memories of old mystery and adventure films; but today the sun is shining and landing is easy in good weather. We are at the park-keeper's house, we visit the ruins of a mediaeval monastery, and our imagination begins to run wild, visualising the life of a community in search of God, perhaps through direct contact with nature which is friendly, imposing, boundless. Boundless, also because in this small insular universe boundaries become blurred.
Those of the sea fade into one another. They are so clear that there seems to be a mirror between the surface of the sea and its depths.
