The origins of Latina are very recent, having been founded in 1932 by the fascist regime with the name Littoria following the reclamation of the Agro Pontino area. Thanks to the marvellous tourist area which has developed along the long seafront, Latina can boast of a significant tourist presence.
Take a walk around the streets of the town to admire the Piazza del Popolo, together with the Torre Civica in medieval style and the wonderful cathedral of San Marco, the Piazza del Quadrato with its central fountain and tufa statues, the public park, the Palazzo del Governo (nowadays the Prefecture) situated in the Piazza della Libertà. Remember also the palaces raised in honour of the Duce: Palazzo M, Palazzo della Posta and the Palazzo del Fascio.
