This Castelli Romani town is located on a rocky spur amid the green Colli Albani (Alban Hills) and makes its living from farming and tourism. The noble Chigi family commissioned Bernini to rebuild the medieval town in 1661. Visit the Baroque Palazzo Chigi, restructured by Bernini and Fontana and its park with grottoes and fountains.
Today, Ariccia is more famous for its fabulous roast pork "porchetta" and the small osterie under the viaduct are superb value.
