Archaeological evidence has found the origins of Rocca Priora to be pre– Christian. It seems that it was the site of the town of Corbio, the object of a long struggle between the Equi and the Romans. In 1353, it was razed to the ground at the hands of the Cola di Rienzo Tribune.
The Savelli who had inherited the Rocca ruined and devastated by the various wars and invasions, carried out various repairs in the heart of the town with important buildings such as the Palazzo Baronale, the dell'Assunta Church, the fortified walls and the main gate.
The Palazzo Baronale is certainly the most important building in the town with its spacious terrace, from which can be enjoyed a magnificent panorama and the sight of many valleys.
