Behind the Gulf of La Spezia and the Cinque Terre there is a colourful and varied landscape where we can find the Locanda del Viandante (Wayfarers Inn), at the ground floor of a former cloister of the XVI century, nowadays turned into a charming hotel. Its two rooms with vaulted roofs and massive walls keep the story of merchants and pilgrims who stopped in Vezzano to rest during their journeys along the Francigena Way.

The fabulous cook Pepy, a Vezzanese DOC, was stolen to the restaurateurs of Monterosso who, for many years, delighted the international customers with her delicious cuisine. Today Pepy kneads for the Locanda her sgabei, her tagliatelle, her ravioli and many other choice dishes of the typical local cooking. At the Locanda there is a large choice of courses. Protagonists of the hors doeuvre are the sliced salami of the nearby Garfagnana, the tasting of aubergines, courgettes and peppers browned on the hotplate and seasoned with chopped garlic and chilli, the stuffed vegetables, the octopus salad with potatoes or spelt, the salami and the sausages of Pignone, the Colonnata lard and the incomparable Vinca bread.

The wine card proposes a selection of good Liguria and national labels: besides the loose local wine there are the Vermentini and the red wines DOC from Lunis hills (Liguria), the Chianti, the Montepulciano and the Morellino di Scansano (Tuscany), the Greco di Tufo, the Fiano di Avellino (Campania) and the Moscati and Passiti of Cinque Terre and Pantelleria to be linked together with the dessert. Cakes finally are always homemade, in accordance with the ancient tradition of our grandmothers.
