A short distance from Voltri, Arenzano is the first town on the Riviera di Ponente nestles in an inlet opening onto a rugged coastline. Originally an ancient medieval village inhabited by fishermen, Arenzano, it was developed from the 17th c. onwards as a tourist resort. Since the disappearance of its castle, numerous important villas have contributed to its character until the imposing building of the Grand Hotel was built at the beginning of the 20th c.
The 16th-c. park of the villa Pallavicini-Negrotto-Cambiaso, today the town hall, the tamarisk-shaded sea front and the remainder of an ancient pine wood which used to extend to beyond Cape San Martino, confer on Arenzano a green, tranquil and gentle atmosphere.
