Touristic Districts

The palaces, which were a symbol of power, were wonderful show pieces for great works of art. In four centuries of domination under the Gonzagas, Mantua was transformed into a city court, with a royal palace of over 500 elaborate rooms, with internal gardens and courtyards.
Similar examples can be found in the small provincial courts of Sabbioneta, Castiglione, and Revere. All this splendour was further enhanced during the period of Maria Teresa of Austria in the 18th century.
