The hamlet, noted for its furnishing factories, is situated in one of the most undisputed cheerful places of the entire Foglia valley. Rising above and between the roofs of the houses is the slender bell tower of the parish church while on the top of the hill and behind affably watching over the picturesque ruins, covered with ivy, is the Castle of the Ubaldini (the family owners of the Castle of Lunano since the thirteenth century).
A small road that rises from the centre of the town enables you to reach the Convent of Monte Illuminato recently restored. It is a Francescan Convent situated on a hill 451 metres high. Inside are conserved frescoes from the XV and XVI centuries. The story handed down is that the Convent was visited by Saint Francis in 1213 and consecrated by seven bishops in 1222. Much can still be seen of the attractive medieval bell tower.
Every year on the third Sunday in October at Lunano there is the Chestnut Festival.
