The curious name of this medieval town, Tavoleto, that lives and breaths the mood of the land that borders between the Marches and Romagna seems to derive from the principal economic activity at one time practised in this zone: the use of the resources of the woods and the work of the timber by means of the transformation of tree trunks into tables, that in part, for fluidity were constructed in the nearby source of the river Tevere and flowed to Rome. From the principal works of art is noticeable the Castle Petrangolini with its towers. The work is of approximately recent construction dating from 1865: but the foundations and part of the original wall are made up from the antique medieval fortress realised in 1462 by Francesco of Giorgio Martini by the wishes of Federico of Montefeltro.
