The few historical information we have comes from the Codex Astensis. The castrum of Loazzolo had the function of defending and protecting the secondary but vital route down the Bormida valley and then up to San Giorgio. With 150 hectares devoted to the cultivation of the Moscato grape, only three have been selected for the production of this outstanding wine.
The grapes are crushed according to the traditional methods to ensure that the bouquet and flavour of the wine is preserved. In the centre of the Loazzolo is the parish church dedicated to Sant’Antonio Abate, beside the attractive chiesa dei Disciplinati.
