The Roero is an area that lies to the north west of Alba to the left of the river Tanaro, where deep canyons known as the "Rocche" cut through the hills, laying bare the strata that make up this terrain. The armoniuos outlines of the hillsides are defined either by gentle slopes or sheer faces.
This area as well as producing Doc wines such as Roero and Arneis, is known for its high quality fruits, including pears, peaches and strawberries. The Roero is a land of sharp contrasts and countless tourist resources. It is an aristocratic land in both name and setting. The name refers to the noble family from the Asti area who were the protagonists here during the Middle Ages and the setting abounds with towers and castles.
At Roero, there is tourist accommodation available in hotels, farm holiday, farmhouse, residence self-catering accommodation, b&b, rooms for rent, holiday homes, camp sites and tourist villages.
