It is a village equipped with all kinds of services, able to satisfy the most sophisticated requirements. The atmosphere there is one of exclusive holidays and on the Promenade lined with shop windows displaying the creations of the most prestigious designers, it is not unusual to come face to face with holiday-making Vips. Numerous events of a highly cultural nature are held there in summer. Concerts of classical music are held regularly in Stella Maris, the famous little church dedicated to the Madonna, standing on the hill looking down on the harbour. The church it-self is well worth a visit: it houses a painting by El Greco, while the grandiose bronze doors are the work of the sculptor Luciano Minguzzi. The combination of sport and tourism flourishes on the Emerald Coast where a great many sports events are held. The Emerald Coast International Rally, now a classic event aiming at moving up to world class, usually held in the first week of April, sets the tourist season rolling every year. At the Cervo Tennis Club, a hotel with seven tennis courts, tournaments are held in which some of the most famous names in tennis take part. The splendid golf course (18 holes, par 72), about 6500 metres long, is laid out between two stupendous hays, offering golfers a unique panorama. Sailing is practised intensely at Porto Cervo, svhere the most famous yachtsmen meet every year to compete in national and international regattas, one of which usually closes the summer season. However, the vastness of the territory offers many other possibilities for tourism, aimed at different holiday-makers from those who frequent Porto Cervo, people who can satisfy their needs for a clean sea, unspoilt nature and excellent services just as well in the neighbouring resorts.
Baja Sardinia is one of these places: it is laid out in fan formation in a wide bay, along a beach with crystal clear waters and the finest sand, facing the archipelago of La Maddalena, about 4 kilometres to the west of Porto Cervo.
Baja Sardinia was built a few years after the tourist boom on the Emerald Coast, promoted by a group of Italian businessmen.
At Emerald Coast, there is tourist accommodation available in hotels, farm holiday, farmhouse, residence self-catering accommodation, b&b, rooms for rent, holiday homes, camp sites and tourist villages.
