This major farming and stock-rearing town overlooks the Campo di Ozieri, a broad valley in the Logudoro region. The town enjoys a humid climate with high rainfall and has been inhabited since the most ancient times. Finds from the San Michele caves show that the area was inhabited by a civilisation between 3000 and 2000 bc.
The town is located on the valley side and is homogeneously neo-classical in appearance. The most elegant buildings are equipped with a type of original covered roof terrace that is unknown anywhere else. The town is also renowned for its sweets. During the Madonna del Rimedio Festival, singing contests are held in the Sardinian language attracting representatives of all the island regions in their traditional costumes.
Ozieri is made even more charming by the large choice of accommodation facilities on offer.
