The origins of Stintino date back to 1885, with the settling of 45 families, mostly bound to the fishing and coming from Asinara island.
Before the territory of the Nurra of Sassari was populated by shepherds and farmers. They lived in some livestock's shelters, named "li cuili". The village of Stintino, in the commune of Sassari, become an autonomous commune in the 1988.
