The flora of Lampedusa is formed by South-Mediterranean steppe, meadow, gariga (typical Mediterrenean vegetation), very different now from the one described in historical texts about the island. Actually until the year 1760 the island was covered with high bushes, in parts with real forests, and people from Malta, pirates and Arabians came here to get precious wood.
There are many arboreal plants such as Pine of Aleppo (Pinus halepensis), Phoenician Juniper (Juniperus phoenicea), Carob-tree (Ceratonia siliqua), Pomegranate (Punica granatum), Olive-tree (Olea europaea).
Here you will be welcomed with typical hospitality and friendliness to a large selection of accommodation facilities.
