The municipality of Furnari is located on a hillock between Mazzarà
Sant'Andrea and Falcone about three kilometres from Terme Vigliatore. The
historical centre of the town is represented by Piazza Marconi, with its
beautiful belvedere viewpoint facing the sea. Furnari is a town with
ancient origins and can boast a number of prestigious monuments, such as: the
Chiesa Madre church located where the Palazzo Baronale was once located, the
Church of Saint Anthony of Padua, the Church of the Madonna del Carmine with the
nearby Monastery of the Carmelite Fathers (il Convento dei Padri Carmelitani),
the Church of the Madonna Addolorata, Palazzo Marziani and the Pagana Tower (the
only structure which remains of the castle, and which served as a prison).
A beautiful seaside resort in the municipality of Furnari is
"Tonnarella", a summer destination for many tourists. As far as the economic
activity is concerned, the production of red wine is particularly relevant,
considered amongst the most prized in Sicily.
The municipality of Furnari also includes Portorosa: a tourist
port located between Tindari and capo Milazzo. Portorosa extends along a large
area equipped with facilities and immersed in green vegetation. Portorosa
proposes many facilities for all those wishing to pass moments of relaxation as
well as enjoyment. Furthermore, it is an important departure point for
