Originally, the centre of Balestrate was represented by the little church of
S. Anna. In old times, it was called "Sicciara", and was where Giuseppe
Garibaldi once stayed. Today it is a small seaside town in the Gulf of
Castellammare, characterised by a long beach of fine, golden sand.
During the summer season, when the town is overflowing with tourists,
performances, festivals and sports events are organised. As well as a shallow,
