The origins of the town of Partinico, in the province of Palermo, go back to around the year 1300, founded by the monks of the monastery of Santa Maria di Altofonte in Parco. The Communal Archives preserve a letter from Giuseppe Garibaldi (which goes back to 1866), in which he declares his acceptance of his citizenship of Partinico and praises the courage shown by his fellow citizens in the struggle against their oppressors.
The most interesting monuments for visiting are: the Church of Maria SS.Annunziata, considered as the "mother church" of the town; the Church and Convent of the Carmine, of the Carmelite monks with the adjoining church of the Carmelo; the Cantina Reale, an extraordinary building, unique of its type in Sicily, which is on the outskirts of the town; the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Ponte, a small temple which preserves on canvas an image of the Madonna.
