The town of San Polo, which is a fraction of Greve in Chianti, belongs to the beautiful territory where Chianti Classico is produced. Located right in the heart of Tuscany, it is situated between the two great cities of Art, Florence and Siena. The town, situated between the mountains Monte Masso (467 m - 1,532 ft) and Monte Muro (634 m - 2,080 ft), is famous above all for its centuries-old iris cultivation, to which it has dedicated a festival held annually in the month of May. It also boasts a parish church, the Pieve di San Miniato in Rubbiana, which preserves an ancient gothic inscription dating back to the year 1077. Nature provides a view typical of the Tuscan countryside, characterised by rolling green hills, rich in olive groves and vineyards. Any season is good for an extended stay or a visit, since, year-round, one can admire the extraordinary landscape and discover the fine wines and local cuisine of the Chianti. Nearby, in the surrounding area, there are castles, parish churches, medieval hamlets and numerous small farms where it is possible to purchase local products (typically olive oil, wines, and cheeses). Surely worth a visit is also the town of Greve in Chianti, called the "Cittā del Vino" and, as such, is a noted tourist destination.
