The village of Tavarnelle Val di Pesa has Roman origins. It first appeared on a map in 780 under the name of Tabernulae.
Tavarnelle Val di Pesa has a quite recent urban aspect as a result of the union of the three medieval villages: Tavarnelle, Mocale and Borghetto.
Unfortunately few traces remain of the medieval constructions as the village was frequently pillaged during that period.
