The Soggiorno Casa di Barbano is a place that, while offering modern comforts, conserves it's antique charm. Mr. Barbano, once a resident here, was a famous vegetable merchant in the 1800's and this, his old house, is situated near the Piazza Independenza, at one time the city's vegetable garden. The Soggiorno (which means pension) is five minutes walking distance from the train station and a block away from Fortezza da Basso, an ex position center, and the Palazzo dei Congressi, a conference center. A pleasant stroll through the close by San Lorenzo market will bring you to the heart of the renaissance center and the great Duomo church. Fiv e hundred meters straight down the street and you arrive in Piazza San Marco and can visit Michelangelo's David sculpture in the Accademia del le Belle Arte. Being a Soggiorno situated on the ground floor, it is extremely easy for the traveler to transport suitcases. Our rooms are spacious, quiet, and luminous, each complete with a bathroom, air conditioning, television, safe deposit box, and the use of a refrigerator. In this friendly atmosphere one can find books to consult, a guitar to play, access to internet, and a telephone for short conversations.
