The communal territory of Vaglia occupies the first part of the valley of river Carza. The boundaries are: Borgo San Lorenzo, Fiesole, Sesto Fiorentino, Calenzano and San Piero a Sieve. The church of the territory of Vaglia, which keeps the most interesting romanic shapes is the one of San Romolo a Bivigliano; it has a unique nave with semicircular apse and its facade is preceded by a portico. In the inside there are a beautiful terra cotta of Della Robbia (Madonna and Saints) and a wooden poly chrome statue representing San Giovanni Battista and dating back to the XV century. And then in the area of Vaglia there are a lot of castles.
In the territory of Vaglia is situated one of the most celebrated but at the same time unlucky countryside residence of Medici: the Villa di Pratolino. The building, created by Buontalenti, has a sober spatial planning based on three buildings without courtyard. It was located on a sort of basis, which should have included the caves, but it did not have the exceptional features that the park has.
