- Schnalstal (2011-3258 m) - The glacier over the Val Senales ridge is the only locality in the South Tyrol where it is possible to ski all year long. The winter season with fresh snow lasts well into May. The pistes of every grade of difficulty (35 km) are never over crowded. The new "Teufelsegg" and "Roter Kofel" weather-protected four-seat chair-lifts have created even more magnificent alternatives. The "half-pipe" piste for snowboards is the longest in the South Tyrol. For cross country skiers, there are 20 km of well-traced tracks; the "Hochjoch 2" piste winds up the glacier to an altitude of 3050 m. The snow sled track, 3,3 km long, is both spectacular and enthralling for the young and the still-feeling-young. Maso Corto and the Bellavista mountain refuge (2842 m – 9208 ft) are ideal bases for alpinism on skis. The so-called "Ötziexpress", a snow cat, offers reconnaissance up on the peaks from the end of June to the beginning of September. The day pass gives free access to the "Ötzi-Show-Gallery" at the upper station of the cable-way.
At South Tyrol, there is tourist accommodation available in hotels, farm holiday, farmhouse, residence self-catering accommodation, mountain chalets, b&b, rooms for rent, holiday homes, camp sites and tourist villages.
