- Rittner Horn (1530-2270 m) - Corno del Renon, not far
from Bolzano, is ideal for families. The new eight-seater cable car, with
intermediate station, and three ski-lifts transport you up to the sunny heights with a famous 360 degree panorama at the departure of about 10 km of
magnificently located and wide and well beaten slopes; the descents are also excellent for snowboarding. To complete the selection on offer, there is a new snow sled track and two cross country ski tracks, one of which is new and at a lower altitude, beginning at the intermediate station, and another, splendid and
higher up, following on to the Villandro Alps (35 km). The area is frequented both for ski touring and for snow walking with racquettes. In the underlying town of Collalbo, there is a covered stadium and artificial ice track circuit of 400 m for speed skating competitions. Close by, it is possible to go skating on a natural ice rink at Soprabolzano and on the small frozen lake of Costalovara, where it has also been possible for some time to play curling.
- Reinswald/Sarntal (1570-2460 m) - The town of San Martino in Val Sarentina is removed from the more congested resorts and attracts those who are less demanding and more fond of simplicity. The 12 km of descents of varying difficulties can satisfy any requirements; the wide pistes with guaranteed snow are also good for snowboarding. For families with children, the snow sled track is highly recommended, 5.2 km long, with a difference in height of 600 m; an unforgettable experience is a night-time descent in the light of the full moon; on those days, the cable-car also functions from 7.30 pm to 9.00 pm. The area is also ideal for ski touring and snow walking with racquettes; another enjoyable experience is a tour on a horse-drawn sleigh. In the environs, the "Pensertal" cross country ski track (24 km) is a sure winner for those practising this sport. The nearby village of Sarentino offers a skating rink and a number of cultural events.
