The Adamello-Brenta Park, situated in the western part of the Trentino region, has a surface area of 618 square kilometers. It includes two large areas separated from each other by a furrow of the Val Rendena: a large part of the Adamello-Presanella Mountain Range is found to the west, while the entire Brenta Mountain Rangeis found to the east. Impressive peaks that rise 3000 meters above sea level belong to the granitic mountain range of the Adamello-Presanella. Impetuous streams of water flowing downhill to form majestic cascades gush from the extensive glaciers that cover these peaks. Dozens of charming alpine lakes decorate these mountains like precious gems. The Brenta Mountain Range is composed of Dolomitic rock formations that originated following the sedimentation of algae and coral from the bottom of ancient seas. Tovel Lake is universally known for the blood-red color of its water during the summer months. The high plateau has an altitude that ranges from 864 meters at Molveno to 1040 meters at Andalo and 958 meters at Fai della Paganella. The climate is typical of an Alpine region: in the summer the average daytime temperature is 18° C, with a maximum of 25° C. Precipitation limits itself to brief thunderstorms and soft winds which blow in a northernly direction, creating a dry atmosphere and a healthy climate. As normally occurs in the mountains, the temperature can drop a couple of degrees as evening approaches.
