The mountain pass connecting San Martino di Castrozza to the other Dolomites valleys. Dominated by the Cimon della Pala sharp needle, the pass can easily be reached from San Martino (9 km away) also by skibus. Here you can ski for more than five mounths a year, with hotels directly facing the slopes. The Passo Rolle ski area, 15 Km of runs at over 2,000 m altitude, has been welcoming for years the first winter skiers, opening its ski lift facilities before any other Dolomites resort. Natural and artificial snow usually allow to ski already at mid November and the season goes on until the whole of April.
The San Martino di Castrozza - Passo Rolle ski area enjoys a unique position in the Dolomites: the southern tip of the Dolomiti Superski carousel, it can claim temperatures that are never too severe and countless sunshine days. Here are ski runs for over more than 60 km, at between 1,404 and 2,357 m altitude, within a unique natural landscape. The runs cover all difficulty levels, are wide and well groomed, with 24 up to date ski lift facilities. Skiing at San Martino di Castrozza and Passo Rolle will certainly ensure new emotions: all slopes are situated within the Nature Park, an unspoilt protected area for the last 30 years.
From the runs, we can discover majestic forests, wild animals, Dolomites rocks and small Alpine lakes, but also the malghe where in summer are produced the famous cheeses of the valley.
