Whit the Dolomeet Card you can live an extraordinary summer
Situated at an altitude of 1550 metres in the wonderful hollow between the Brenta Dolomites and the glaciers of Adamello and Presanella, Madonna di Campiglio became a renown tourist area in the second half of the last century. Madonna di Campiglio was turned into a refined holiday area for nobles and the rich Austrian and Central Europe upper middle-class. In 1889 and 1894 Princess Sissi and the Emperor Francesco Giuseppe were its guests.
In 1947 the SocietÓ Funivie Madonna di Campiglio (Cablecar Company) was founded and aimed at enhancing the skiing in this area. In 1948 the first ski lift, a chair-lift linking Madonna di Campiglio to Spinale, was opened; in the 50s the cablecar "5 Laghi" and other skilifts were built. Today this resort offers 90 kilometres of runs.
The Adamello-Brenta Nature Park covers a 50,000-hectare territory with 450 kilometres of alpine paths but these are mere figures. While walking, mountain- biking or riding along these paths through the cool firwoods and the beautiful larchwoods you can really feel the emotions that Madonna di Campiglio offers to its tourists. You just need to step outside the village to visit lakes, small valleys, brooks, alpine huts and refuges with a splendid view of the massive peaks flood-lit by the sun.
