The Amerino region lies in the far south of Umbria, between Terni and Orvieto and it is that part of hilly lands between the river Tevere and its biggest affluent.The Amerino region includes the territories of Amelia, Alviano, Attigliano, Avigliano Umbro, Giove, Guardea, Lugnano in Teverina, Montecastrilli and Penna in Teverina.
The predominantly hilly landscape, characterised by extensive ilex groves and agricultural crops, among which olives and vines prevail, faces westwards over the Terni basin and eastwards over the Tiber valley.
