The Orvieto District is situated at the extreme western end of the province of Terni, along the boundary with the Region of Lazio and the Region of Tuscany.
The Orvieto District is characterised by a landscape of volcanic origin in which hills, plains and clay gullies alternate. There is a wide variety of landscapes here: green pastures, vineyards, olive groves and lush forests, all of which are reflected in the fresh water of brooks and lakes. An interesting and varied landscape, with numerous villages, castles and towns of mediaeval origin.
Countless signs have been left by the culture of the peasant tradition: the isolated farmhouses dotted across the landscape, the bridges, the cart roads and the shrines.
