However, signs left of epocas further back in history, such as the small Temple of the Clitunno, the paleocristian Basilica of St. Salvatore or the well-preserved Roman buildings should be forgotten. Added to this, remains of the typical medieval spirituality, exist even today, for example, various abbeys and churches constructed for the major part along typically Romanic lines, such as the abbey of San Felice at Giano dell'Umbria, the church of San Brizio, the church of San Gregorio at Castel Ritaldi, and the church of San Giuliano at Monteluco. For those, however, who appreciate the beauty of the countryside, the Springs of the Clitunno river and the woods of Monteluco are a perfect destination. A similar melting pot of history and tradition can be experienced in the flavours of the local cuisine, robust yet unexpectedly refined, caressed by the delicate whites and vigorous reds of an ancient oenological tradition. One more reason to maintain a special memory of Spoleto's district, and even to take home some of the local homemade produce of the fertile Umbrian hills: olive oil, wine, mushrooms, sausage meats, truffles, honey and chestnuts.
At The Spoleto region, there is tourist accommodation available in hotels, farm holiday, farmhouse, residence self-catering accommodation, b&b, rooms for rent, holiday homes, camp sites and tourist villages.
