Courmayeur and Valdigne - Mont Blanc: sports, nature, history and traditions. Courmayeur is the most important of the five tourist areas in Valdigne. Valdigne is the high valley of the Dora Baltea, that is, the zone situated in the northwestern part of Valle d'Aosta that extends from the basin of Morgex all the way to the foot of the massif of Little Saint Bernard. Aside from Courmayeur, the tourist centres of Valdigne are La Salle, which preserves attractive examples of rural alpine architecture; Morgex, renowned for its excellent white wine; Pré-Saint-Didier, from which one can enjoy the most complete panoramas of the Mont Blanc chain; and finally La Thuile, in the side valley of the same name, at the foot of the historic Little Saint Bernard pass, known already in prehistoric times. The ski areas of Valdigne - Mont Blanc offer a total of 235 km of downhill trails served by more than 60 lifts (including gondolas, chairlifts and T-bars), and 60 km of cross-country trails.
