In the Aosta Valley many Romanesque and Gothic churches underwent frequent changes throughout the centuries; nevertheless, remarkable evidence of the different historic and artistic phases still exists. The early Christian churches at Aosta, Donnas, Saint-Vincent and Villeneuve are a good example. The Cathedral and Sant'Orso Church at Aosta (10th-11th cent.), the Romanesque churches at Arnad, Gressan, Villeneuve and Derby, those with Gothic elements at Challand-Saint-Victor, Antey-Saint-André, Morgex, etc... the baroque church at Antagnod are all superb. There are numerous isolated sanctuaries in the high valleys.
