The considerable contribution of the Romans to the Aosta Valley is documented by the remains of the consular road to Gaul, parts of which can still be seen at Pont-Saint-Martin, Donnas, Cillian (Saint-Vincent), Châtillon, Aosta and Runaz. Augusta Prætoria (Aosta), founded in 25 B.C., still preserves numerous Roman monuments: the Criptoporticus, the Forum, the Theatre, the Amphitheatre, the Prætorian Gateway and, just outside the Roman town, the Augustus Arch. The aqueduct bridge at Pondel, near Aymavilles, is absolutely spectacular. The small temples of the Little and Great St-Bernard as well as the ruins of the thermal equipment of some suburban and rustic villas (Saint-Vincent) are noteworthy.

In Aosta Valley you may choose your accommodation solution from: hotels, farm holiday, farmhouse, residence self-catering accommodation, b&b, rooms for rent, holiday homes, camp sites, mountain chalets and tourist villages ready to satisfy your every requirement.
