There are many churches spread throughout the territory of Cortina: the churches dedicated to the Madonna of Protection, to S. Rocco a Zuel, the church of S. Maria ad Montes at S. Francesco, the one of the Madonna of Lourdes at Verocai, of the Most Holy Trinity at Maion, and numerous others, that one can visit when strolling in the neighbourhood of the main Ampezzo town. The museums and art galleries in Cortina are well-known, and help get to know from close up the traditions and history of these lands. In the Ciāsa de ra Regoles in the town centre, there are three interesting museums. The "Mario Rimoldi" Museum of Modern Art, has an important collection of works by great Italian artists of our century, such as Picasso, De Chirico, Moranti, De Pisis, Guttuso, Campigli and Sironi. The "Rinaldo Zardini" Palaeontological Museum covers the history of our planet through numerous testimonies, such as the splendid fossils of animals and other organisms that inhabited the oceans that flooded these areas millions of years ago. The Ethnographic Museum represents an excellent occasion to learn about the traditions of the inhabitants of these mountains.
