Situated at the end of the Alto Agordino, at the foot of the Sella group of
mountains, Arabba (1.602 m) is one of the main centres for the Ladin language
in the Dolomites of the Veneto, similar to the border areas in South Tyrol.
This happy position on the border gives it a privileged position to access the
Sella Ronda, the matchless trail on skis over four mountain passes; Campolongo,
Sella, Gardena and the Pordoi.
Arabba is in every way a strategic point for
alpine skiing; 52 km of slopes, linked to the Marmolada by the cabin car that
ascends at Porta Vescovo. Of great interest is the Avalanche Centre that
provides information on the snow conditions in the Eastern Alps.
In summer and winter Arabba offers various attractions, festivals, cultural
events and places to visit such as the ruins of Castle Andraz, a fortification
built on a rock that looks out over the fields of Livinallongo del Col di
Lana.
