From the Marmarole to the Pelmo to the Cridola: this is the vast area of
Cadore which is rich with nature, culture and art. Here bears witness to the
"historic capital" of the area, Pieve di Cadore where in 1477 the great maestro
of the Renaissance, Tiziano Vecelllio was born and you can still visit the
house. In Tai di Cadore you can also visit the Museum of Eye-glasses, one of
the only ones in the world and thus it is not by chance that this is the home of
glasses manufacture.
Around Pieve, along the banks of lake Cadore are the villages of Domegge, Lozzo
and Calalzo, the main railway junction in the Dolomites and noted for the Fonti
di Lagole: charming sources of ferruginous water that were known centuries ago
for their therapeutic properties.
In the area of Oltrepiave there is Vigo di Cadore, with its old chapels of
Sant'Orsola and Santa Margherita di Salagona and in the surroundings, Lorenzago
di Cadore.
At Cadore, there is tourist accommodation available in hotels, farm holiday,
farmhouse, residence self-catering accommodation, mountain chalets, b&b, rooms
for rent, holiday homes, camp sites and tourist villages.
