Enclosed by the Dolomite groups of the Popera to the north and the Brentoni
to the south the Val Comelico extends along the basin of the Piave and
Padola rivers and includes five villages: Santo Stefano di Cadore, San Pietro di
Cadore, Comelico Superiore, San Nicolo di Comelico and Danta di Cadore.
The countryside is covered with flora and vegetation, meadows and immense
woods that contribute to the known expression of "Verde Comelico" (Green
Comelico): a natural environment that has remained unpolluted even today
and that improves still further in the Val Visdende and Valgrande.
Summer hikes as well as sports and entertainment and festivals and in the winter the opportunity to ski - alpine and Nordic as well as skating and dog sledding. All this and more is on offer in Comelico with its valleys rich with history and
traditions; one of which, the Maskarade, the Ladin Carnival that is the most
famous with the masked protagonist of Matazin.
